LEWISTON – Wilfred J. Maheux, 89, of 11 Garcelon St., Lewiston, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Marshwood Nursing Home after a long illness.

He was born in Lewiston on Dec. 12, 1918, a son to the late Gedeon and Amedie (Marchand) Maheux. He was educated in local schools. He married the love of his life, Lucienne Cloutier, on Sept. 27, 1941, and together they raised their six children. He worked as a carpenter for Bills Roofing and Jutras and Gerard Construction. He was a member of Holy Family Church. He always enjoyed working with wood, and after retiring he made furniture for doll houses. He will be sadley missed by his wife, family and friends.

He leaves his wife of 66 years, Lucienne (Cloutier) Maheux; three daughters, Pauline (Robert Sr.) L’Italien of Auburn, Doris (Paul G.) Cote of Lewiston and Jacqueline (Leo) Bergeron of Lewiston; three sons, Henry (Anita) Maheux of Lewiston, Ronald (Diane) Maheux of Lewiston and Paul (Gabriel) Maheux of Lewiston; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Shawn Maheux; a granddaughter, Baby Cote; four brothers, Donozor, Doria, Gerard and Frederick; and two sisters, Bertha Corriveau and Madora Clavet.
