MIDDLETOWN, Ohio – Arthur Benjamin Cobb Jr., 86, of Washington Court House, Ohio, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Atrium Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 9, 1922, in Norway, to Arthur Benjamin and Laura Smith Cobb. He was a graduate of Norway High School and a World War II Army veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater.
After his military service, he embarked upon a career in the harness horse business that was both his work and his lifelong interest.
He met his future bride, Jacquelyn Ann Niles, at the track in Maine and they were married in 1954. They settled in Washington Court House, Ohio in 1960, where he was the manager of Fair Chance Farm, until his retirement. His other loves were hunting, fishing and playing golf with his four sons.
He is survived by his sons, Gardner (Kathy) Cobb of Anchorage, Alaska, Gary (Lisa) Cobb of Middletown, Greg Cobb of Washington Court House, Ohio, and Glen (Jan) Cobb of New Holland, Ohio; grandchildren, Abby, Kelly, Grady, Ginny, Gayle, Garrett, Jacquelyn, Jenna and Josie Cobb; and nieces and nephews, Mr. and Mrs. George Stanley of Norway, Bruce and Arthur Niles and Cathy Niles of Auburn and Laura Wiley of Florida.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife in 1973; his parents; a brother, Gardner Cobb; and sisters, Phoebe Bailey and Lucy Wiley.
