NAPLES – An environmental group will continue to host a dinner on Friday, although the winter carnival it was kicking off has been canceled.

Save Sebago Cove, a nonprofit organization aiming to eradicate milfoil in a portion of Sebago Lake, will host its fundraiser from 6 p.m. to midnight at Shakers Bar and Grill. The $50 admission cost includes a catered dinner, raffle and entertainment.

Tickets will be available at the event until 6:45 p.m. Town Manager Derik Goodine will be master of ceremonies, while soloist Pete Finkle will be the featured musician.

Ed Lapham, president of Save Sebago Cove, said approximately 40 prizes are available in the raffle. The grand prize is $2,000, which was raised by ticket sales.

Lapham said 140 to 150 people have signed up for the event. For more information, contact Save Sebago Cove at 252-3044.

The Naples Winter Carnival, which the fundraiser was to kick off, has been canceled due to poor lake conditions. According to a news release from the Greater Bridgton Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce, there is a lack of solid ice on Long Lake as well as slushy snowmobile track conditions.
