CAMPTON, N.H. (AP) – A van going an estimated 70 mph rear-ended a slow-moving snowplow, killing the van driver and closing a northbound section of Interstate 93 north Thursday afternoon, state police said.
Police said the van driver died instantly as the van was cut open and severely damaged. The driver’s identity was not released pending notification of his family.
The northbound lanes were closed above Exit 26 in Campton after the 1:38 p.m. accident and remained closed 3 hours later.
Bill Boynton, spokesman for the state Department of Transportation, said officials at the scene expected the closure to last for an extended period.
