FARMINGTON – Rita T. Myles, 85, formerly of Chase Avenue in Mexico, died Thursday, Feb. 14, at Franklin Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born March 2, 1922, in Mexico, a daughter of Euclide and Vitaline (Forget) Briere.

She was educated in Mexico schools and was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1939.

She was employed at Rumford Hospital, JCPenny, the Oxford Paper Mill and the 99 Cent Store.

She was a communicant of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church and was a former member of the St. Theresa’s Guild. She was a 50-year member of the Daughters of Isabella.

She loved working with the Boy Scouts.

She wanted to give her love to her family, who made her so happy. She said they were so good to her and she was so lucky to have such a nice family, as well as nice friends and neighbors.

She is survived by a son, Arthur J. Myles and wife, Cheryl, of Wilton; and a grandson, Jeremy Myles of Rumford.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, James Myles in 1988; a daughter, Joanne Myles in 1953; a son, Gary Myles in 1967; a sister, Yvette Richard in 1988; and a brother, Joseph Briere in 2002.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the wonderful caregivers at Pinewood Terrace in Farmington, where Rita spent the past years.
