This letter is in response to the letter from Elaine Graham, printed Feb. 5.

Why she would make public her ignorance and intolerance is baffling to me.

I have many old friends who are gay. It was not a choice for any of them.

There is, if anyone bothered to check, scientific data to support the claim that homosexuality is genetic. I can’t think of anyone in their right mind choosing to be discriminated against, ridiculed and unaccepted by what is viewed as mainstream society.

People should also realize that homosexuals do not recruit others; at least not the people I know.

Last I knew, recruiting is a far cry from teaching tolerance and acceptance.

I think Graham, and others who think as she does, need to open their minds and close their mouths.
