GREENE – The programs for Araxine Wilkins Sawyer Memorial for the first half of the year have been announced. The schedule is as follows:
March 13 and 14: Bob DeLoss film, “America’s Natural Wonders.” The film will explore Hawaii to Maine.
March 27 and 28: Rick Howard film, “The Real World of New Zealand.” The film will cover New Zealand.
April 10 and 11: “Steamboating in Alaskan Waters” with Stan Walsh. The film will explore Juneau and the Mendenhall Glacier, Skagway, Glacier Bay, Sitka and Ketchican.
April 24 and 25: Bluegrass Connection entertainment with Erica Brown.
May 8 and 9: Singer-songwriter and guitarist Denny Breau accompanied by Frank Coffin, bassist for Delta blues, country and jazz.
May 22 and 23: “Irish Stories and Glories,” a film presented by Sandy Mortimer.
June 5 and 6: The Swingtime Band plays music from the ’30s, ’40s and ’50s.
June 19 and 20: “Lighthouses of the Maine Coast Part II” by Michael Perry. The slide show covers Down East lighthouses.
July 24 and 25: Mollyockett Chorus presents a capella barbershop songs.
The Araxine Wilkins Memorial was established in 1936 by John M. Sawyer as a memorial to his mother, Araxine Wilkins Sawyer.
The Araxine Wilkins Sawyer Foundation is a nonprofit private foundation with a primary purpose of providing family entertainment.
Programs are presented free to the public twice a month on Thursdays and Fridays, unless otherwise stated.
