LEWISTON – Claire A. Caron, 98, formerly of 20 Wood St., died Sunday, Feb. 17, at Marshwood Health Care Facility, where she resided for the past two and a half years.

She was born in La Patrie, P.Q., Canada, on April 30, 1909, a daughter of the late Fred and Anna Lacasse Allaire. She was educated in Jackman schools and Sacred Heart Academy. She was married to Archille Caron in Jackman on March 28, 1932. He died May 18, 2000, after 67 years of marriage.

She and her husband moved to Lewiston in 1933, and belonged to the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paull. She worked at Bates Mfg. Co., Hill Mill Division. Her greatest joys were her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking for everyone, and her love for her family was endless.

She also enjoyed going for long walks and one of her highlights in her life was being able to go on several trips with her sisters especially to Florida and Arizona.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia C. and her husband, Richard D. Sylvain, of Lewiston; three grandchildren, Richard D. Sylvain Jr. and his wife, Jennifer of Bedford, N.H., Sandra A. (Ronald) Russo of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Capt. Tina L. Ortiz, U.S.N., and her husband, Carlos, of Alexandria, Va.; seven great-grandchildren, Amber T. (Ryan) Thibault, Diana R. (Alex) Peselman, John S. (Carmela) Rocheleau, Kristin L. Nawrocki, Catelyn M. Nawrocki, Leah C. Sylvain and David R. Sylvain; a sister, Gloria (Tom) Tweedie of Skowhegan; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband; seven sisters; a brother; a grandson, Kenneth Bruce Sylvain; a great-grandson, Brent David Sylvain; all her in-laws, who were special to her.

Our family would like to thank especially Robert Rocheleau for his kindness and faithful visits, Dr. Jeffrey Brown, The Mapleview and Buchanan units at Marshwood, and Androscoggin Hospice for the professional care and love extended to Claire.
