AUBURN – Lorraine (Leclerc) Sampson, 79, a resident of Wilton, died Sunday, Feb. 17, at the Androscoggin Hospice House after a brief illness.
She was born in Jay on Oct. 2, 1928, the daughter of Ovila and Marie Louise (Lambert) Leclerc. She was a 1946 graduate of Jay High School.
On Oct. 11, 1947, she married Norman R. Sampson at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. She and her husband had been married 51 years before his death. He passed away on Jan. 24, 1999.
She worked as a dental assistant for 31 years, retiring in 1991 to enjoy her family and friends. She looked forward to spending time with her family at their camp on Bear Pond.
She is survived by a son, Gary Sampson and his wife, Gail, of East Livermore; two daughters and their husbands, Mrs. Arnold (Sharon) Borthwick of Farmington and Mrs. Bart (Janalyn) Hersey of East Wilton; eight grandchildren, Scott Therrien, Todd Therrien, Deanna Hamblin, Megan Heikkinen, Katie Castonguay, Adam Sampson, Moriah Hersey and Erik Hersey; 13 great-grandchildren, Alex Therrien, Courtney Therrien, Colby, Evan and Mary Hamblin, Chase and Kile Heikkinen, Emily and Ryleigh Castonguay, Gage and Karlee Sampson, Dylan Grant and Mason Hersey; a special niece and nephew, Steve Leclerc of Hadley, N.Y., and Diana Shattuck of Venice, Fla.
She was predeceased by a brother, Paul Leclerc.
