AUGUSTA – Robert H. Harvey, 61, of Windsor, died Sunday, Feb. 18, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta.
He was born in Augusta, Nov. 1, 1946, the son of Henry L. and Sophie (Pyska) Harvey. He grew up in Augusta and was a 1965 graduate of Cony High School.
Robert raised, trained and drove horses in the harness racing industry for most of his life. He raced at tracks from Maine to Florida. He also worked part-time at the Econo Lodge in Augusta in recent years.
Bob loved his horses and all animals including beagles and basset hounds. He was also an avid gardener, raising most of his own vegetables. Bob enjoyed painting and spending time in the outdoors. He was a member of the U.S. Trotting Association and the Maine Harness Horseman’s Association.
He is survived by his daughter, Roberta Taylor, and her husband, Victor, of Weatherford, Tex.; his brother, Edward P. Harvey, and his wife, Patricia, of Leeds; and his two grandchildren, Samantha “Boo” Bechthold and Michael Henry Taylor.
He was predeceased by his parents.
