MEXICO – Lois Barnett, 74, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, at her residence after a courageous battle with emphysema and COPD, with her family by her side.

She was born May 28, 1933, in Mexico, a daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret (Weeks) MacLennan. She was a graduate of Mexico High School. She worked at Scott Paper, Diamond Match, International Paper and Western Maine Transportation.

She was an active member of the Red Hat Society and the Carthage Mother’s Club. She enjoyed playing cards and she enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow.

She was married in West Peru, on Oct. 14, 1950, to the late Thomas W Barnett. He died in Carthage on Dec 26, 1983.

Survivors include two daughters, Maple Gross and her husband, Gerry Gross, of Lewiston and April Brown and her husband, Bert, of Palm Springs, Fla.; three sons, Daniel Barnett and his wife, Lorna, of Mexico, Gibby Barnett of Dixfield and Jason Barnett and his wife, Kathyjo, of Dixfield; grandchildren, Gary Barnett, Amanda Fennell and her husband, Jay, Elizabeth Barnett, Thomas Torey and Tucker Barnett, Daniel T. Barnett, Michelle Bernard, Rony Jean Bernard, John Bernard and his companion, Stacy Fortin, Trevor Brown, Sarah MacDonald and her husband, Clifton, Gary Williamson and his wife, Julia, and Rebecca Thibault and her husband, Dan; nephews, Donald McLennan and Mark Bowie; nieces, Heather McLennan and Audrey Wade; and many great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a grandson, Travis Barnett
