LISBON – Mary Bridget Timoney passed away on Feb. 17, in Lisbon.

She was born Sept. 30, 1922, in the rural farm land of Western Ireland, in Cornamona, County Galway. She was the oldest of five children: survived by two brothers, Martin O’Sullivan of Cranston, R.I., and Donald O’Sullivan of London, England; and a sister, Sarah Kinneavy of Cornamona, Ireland. Michael John O’Sullivan of Cornamona, Ireland, predeceased her.

She moved to England when she was 18 years old, then moved to New York when she was 20. She was married to James Patrick Timoney of Brooklyn, N.Y., in January 1955. They moved to Metuchen, N.J., in 1957, where they lived for the next 40 years.

She was an active communicant at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral in Metuchen, N.J., and also a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Woodbridge Irish -American Club. She later moved to Virginia in 2000 to 2002 and later moved to Maine, where she lived the remainder of her life.

Surviving children are James Michael Timoney of Auburn and his wife, Terry, Maura Timoney O’Connor of Stafford, Va., and her husband, Chris; six grandchildren, Erin, Cory, Shannon and Neal Timoney of Maine, and Megan and Ryan O’Connor of Virginia; and one great-grandchild, Kristopher Downs (Timoney) of Maine.

She was predeceased by her infant son, Gerard Timoney, in 1961; and her husband, James P. Timoney, in 1997.
