The Lewiston Demons hockey team blanked Win-Dale on Sunday with a convincing 5-0 shutout victory.

The win clinches at least a second-place finish in the Northern Middle School Hockey League regular season. The Demons extend their record to 8-2-1.

After a scoreless first period, Tanner Hubbard scored what proved to be the game-winner for the Demons, stuffing in a feed from linemate Chris Rancourt early in the second period. Less than a minute later, David Cusson scored an unassisted tally, and the rout was on. Devin Bilodeau was sent in alone by Nick Gilbert to complete the 2nd-period scoring.

The third period was all Demons as well. Jake Bergeron drove the puck home with his slap shot from the point, assisted by Kile Conn. The final goal came off the stick of Nick Gilbert, who roofed his shot past the Win-Dale goaltender, with the assist going to Alex Gregoire.

The Demons outshot the Win-Dale team 3-1 by maintaining a strong forecheck, including the fast skating of Kevin Lavertu and Jacob Soucy. Helping Demons goalie Brady Ouellette complete his shutout were defenders Brett Vallee, Rudy Pandora, Coleman Morency, Tommy Hird, and Marty Moreau.
