Dear Sun Spots: I read your column religiously, I find it very informative.
I am trying to find someone in the Lewiston, Leeds, or Monmouth areas who does light trucking. I am planning a move in the spring and would need someone to move just the large pieces of furniture I have. – No Name, No Town.
Dear Sun Spots: For the person looking for glass coffee pots. She should visit the Alpha and Omega Thrift Shop at the Norway Paris transfer station. They had some earlier in the Fall. It’s a great place to visit and the people there are very helpful.
Also, someone wanted some old piano rolls. Does anyone remember who? Thanks. – No Name, No Town.
Answer: In addition to responses from readers, Sun Spots is amazed at your memory! She believes you’re referring to No Name, Sabattus featured in the July 5, 2007, column. That writer was seeking player piano rolls from the early 1900s of waltzes, polkas and fox trots in any condition but with the ends intact. You may reach the writer at 375-8546.
Dear Sun Spots: I’m writing to you because I am doing a state report on Maine this spring.
I want to learn about Maine. I live in Washington state. I’m 10 years old and a fifth-grader. I go to school in a town that is only an exit long. It is called Conway. I picked Maine because I think it is the prettiest and most peaceful state in the USA. Washington is gray and raining, wet and sunny, or dry and wet.
We have mountains that are miles high. We have deserts that are in the middle of nowhere. And, our forests are like rain forests (but not so wet).
What is your state like?
I need: facts such as the land, its people, history, government, economy, places and climate. Also, when the report is due, I have to put together a presentation, so I’d appreciate receiving postcards, pictures and maps about Maine.
If you would please send me information to help me learn about Maine, I would be very grateful. Talking to real people from Maine isn’t the same as reading books on Maine. It’s better! It’s nothing like what you get from books.
Thank you for your time. I’m ecstatic about my state report on Maine. I love writing to the people living in Maine and asking for help with my state report. I hope to hear from you soon. With your help my state report will be so much better. – Your friend, Shiloh M., Mount Vernon, Wash.
