• Feb. 18, 8 a.m. – While out sanding, a 2005 International plow truck owned by the town and operated by Edward Ferland, 66, of Rumford, on the Martin Road, slid into a parked 2002 Kenworth flatbed-transport tractor-trailer owned by Seth Pitcher, 27, of Rumford. The accident was caused by icy conditions and the road’s contour, according to investigating patrolman Peter Casey. The big rig was parked in a section on the shoulder of the road that was created specifically for Pitcher’s big rig. Ferland wasn’t injured. Damage to the big rig was estimated at $25,000; to the plow truck, $4,000.
