LEWISTON – Jeannette “Jan” Zamarche, 88, of Lewiston, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Central Maine Medical Center, with her loving family by her side.

Jan was born in Lewiston on April 21, 1919, a daughter of the late Alphonse and Gertrude Michaud. She was raised and educated in Lewiston. She married the love of her life Daniel Zamarche, on Nov. 19, 1942.

She worked for many years at Steckino’s resturaunt as a waitress and later for Knapp Shoe as a packer until her retirment. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church as well as a member of Daughters of the Nile. She was an avid reader and caregiver for her four great-grandchildren and all those whom she could help.

She is survived by her husband, Dan, of 65 years; a daughter, Sandra and husband, Chuck Gonyeau, of Vermont; a sister, Anita Rivard of Massachusetts; grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband, Michael Barth, of New Hampshire, and Brian and his wife, Tara Libby, of Vermont.
