RUMFORD – The River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition and its Spring Fitness Program Committee are finalizing this year’s spring fitness program. The kick-off will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 9, at Black Mountain of Maine.
It is an eight-week self-tracking program that encourages individuals to exercise 30 to 45 minutes at least three to five days a week. Participants must register by March 9, track their minutes of activity on sheets provided and turn them in at the end of the eight weeks to be eligible to win prizes.
Some of this year’s prizes are gift certificates from business and memberships to local facilities.
Activities will include free roller-skating at the Mexico Rec Center from 4:30 to 6:30; nature walks at Hosmer Field in Rumford or Davis Park in Bethel; and bowling at Oxford Lanes from 4 to 6 p.m. with a $1.50 charge for shoe rental.
Registration forms, tracking sheets and directions on how the program works can be picked up at the RVHCC office, GRCC, Generations, Curves, Rumford Hospital, Rumford Library, Franklin Savings Bank, Bangor Savings Bank or Ellie’s and Andy’s in Bethel. Those wishing may also visit rvhcc.org to register and download forms. Call Carol at 364-7408 for more information.
