After reading the letter by Paul Lowell (Feb. 21), I was floored at the lack of respect he showed toward all those involved in the shootings. What he did was little more then a political attack against the Democratic party, with no true emphasis toward mandated gun control.
I believe that gun ownership should be restricted so those with mental illness could not purchase guns.
I am a Republican through and through, but my belief is that there should be a higher level of gun control, and it is very much a need. We must keep those who have suffered through these tragedies in our prayers.
When reviewing the Second Amendment, it should be remembered that it was written in a day and age of muskets and black powder, not with fully automatic submachine guns or pistol-grip shotguns.
