DANVERS, Mass. – Raymond M. Floyd, 89, of Danvers, beloved husband of Adalia (Nauyokas) Floyd, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, in the Kaplan Family Hospice House.
He was born in Dexter, the son of the late Marshall and Agnes (Gould) Floyd. He received his education in Maine, graduated from Edward Little High School in Auburn, and later completed the General Electric Apprentice program.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during World War II as a member of the 8th Airborne 971st Bomb Squadron of the U.S. Army, for three years in England as a radio technician on B-24 Bombers.
He had been employed for many years as a machinist for the General Electric Co., until the time of his retirement in 1974.
A longtime resident of the town of Danvers, he was member of the Maple Street Congregational Church in Danvers. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed skiing with his family and spending time at Sugarloaf ski resort in Maine. He was also a member of the Riverside Squares, where he served on the board.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, David Floyd and Diane Larsen of Vail, Colo., and James R. Floyd and his wife, Martha, of Vienna; three grandchildren, Anthony J. Floyd of Savannah, Ga., Michael Floyd and his wife, Ara, of Vail, Colo., and Corey Floyd of Denver, Colo.; one sister, Barbara Whitney of Arizona; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Elwood Floyd.
