AUGUSTA (AP) – State officials have concluded there was no criminal activity on a DVD that was turned over by Washington County Sheriff Donnie Smith.
Smith said the DVD showed a drug agent flashing his badge, drinking a beer and driving off in a car. He said other scenes in the two-year-old DVD also warranted investigation.
The DVD was viewed Tuesday by Public Safety Department Commissioner Anne Jordan and Deputy Attorney General William Stokes.
They concluded that the drug agent’s “antics” were “juvenile,” but fell short of criminal behavior.
Jordan said the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency first came upon the DVD two years ago, and the agent was disciplined at that time.
