LEWISTON – Dwight Charles Buck, 93, of Buckfield, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, after a short illness.

He was born in Buckfield on Sept. 4, 1914, son of Charles A. and Hattie L. (Churchill) Buck of Buckfield. He was educated in Buckfield schools. He married Lucille May Buck on June 25, 1939.

He retired from Livermore Shoe Co. in 1980. Previously, he was employed for many years at Withingtons Wood Products in Minot. Throughout his life, he worked at other tasks he loved, including maple sugaring and farming.

He particularly enjoyed telling stories, woodworking (making many gifts for family and friends), gardening, maple sugaring, baking, watching sporting events played by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the Red Sox, as well as family gatherings, especially the large Thanksgiving dinners and parties at the family cottage at Androscoggin Lake. The most important thing he leaves behind is the priceless gift of love and its endless memories.

Survivors include four sons, Earl Buck and his wife, Sally, of Liberty Hill, Texas, Robert Buck of Buckfield, Alden Buck and his wife, Samantha, of South Paris and Dennis Buck and Linda Gagnon, of East Sumner; five daughters, Nellie Hanson of Livermore Falls, Linda Robbins and her husband, Art, of Leeds, Marilyn Chesley and her husband, Russell, of East Sumner, Brenda Holt and her husband, Arlin, of Norway and Lillian Clough of Buckfield; one brother, Percy Buck; one sister, Elsie Buck Knightly, both of Buckfield; 27 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; one special niece, Priscilla Turner of South Paris; and many additional well-loved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife of 64 years, who died Feb. 13, 2003, he was predeceased by a brother, Phillip Timberlake; five sisters, Ethal Turner, Maud Ryerson, Hazel Turner, Wilma Shadwell and Elva Fotter; and one grandchild, Kevin Buck.
