LEWISTON – Lewiston firefighter Pvt. Michael Albert has presented the Lewiston Youth Advisory Council with a $150 donation on behalf of the International Association of Firefighters. The funding is designated for an electronic message board at the entrance of Lewiston High School.

The project is an ongoing partnership with the Lewiston School Department that recently received a large boost from 2008-09 Lewiston City Councilors, who privately raised funds for the project and presented a check to the youth council at the January inaugural.

Albert said, “When we saw the city council’s fundraising presentation at the January inaugural, we firefighters decided we wanted to contribute as well.”

LYAC and the school department hope that the sign will be purchased and established by early summer, as they believe it will be a positive communication tool for residents and visitors alike.
