CALAIS – Mildred V. Minnick, 89, of Eastport, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Calais Regional Hospital of congestive heart failure.
She was born in Eastport on Sept. 28, 1918, the daughter of Frank and Evelyn (Holmes) Malloch. She graduated from Shead Memorial High School in 1937, and married Paul R. Minnick in 1938. He managed the J.J. Newberry Store in Eastport until 1946, when he was transferred to Rumford.
They resided in Rumford and Dixfield until 1957, when he was transferred to Ithaca, N.Y. They lived in Ithaca until his retirement in 1970, and then returned home to Eastport.
She is survived by daughters, Sally R. Minnick of Eastport and Joyce L. Robertson of Oneida, N.Y.; a son, David P. Minnick and his wife, Debbie, of Ithaca, N.Y.; five grandchildren: her beloved granddaughter, Christine Robertson of Oneida, N.Y., and Melissa, Bethany, Meredith and Andrew Minnick of Ithaca, N.Y.; her sister-in-law, Lena Malloch and her cousin, Naomi Spencer, both of Eastport; and many very special nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Paul, in 1997; her brothers, Russell, Kenneth, George, Roland and Vernon Malloch; and sisters Gladys McCutcheon and Doris Hungerford.
