Jeff Ricker scoops asphalt out of a city truck to patch a long stretch of potholes on Main Street in Lewiston on Friday. “The idea is that it will get packed down enough that even after tonight’s storm, most of it will stay in the holes,” said Gerry Lajoie, who was working with Ricker. Many large potholes now litter the streets of Lewiston and Auburn, caused by the weather and plows scraping up the asphalt.
