AUBURN – Jeanne L. Vaillancourt, 90, of Auburn, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Bolster Heights Residential Care Facility with her family by her side.
She was born to Josephine Briand Lajoie and Laurent Lajoie on Nov. 3, 1917, in St. Pascal, Quebec, Canada. She moved with her family from Canada to Lewiston at age 3. She was educated in Lewiston schools.
She married Conrad P. Vaillancourt in Lewiston on March 8, 1943, and they were happily married for 55 years. They raised two sons, Conrad Larry and Richard, and made their home in Sabattus and Auburn.
She was employed for many years at the Cowen Mill and F.R. Lepage Bakery, both in Lewiston.
She was a parishioner at St. Louis Church in Auburn, then at Holy Family in Lewiston. She was involved in various church functions including singing in the choir.
One of her favorite trips she made on numerous occasions, along with her husband and children, was to Enfield, N.H., to the shrine of Our Lady of LaSalette, to whom she had a very deep devotion.
After her and Conrad’s retirement, they traveled by tour bus to many locations in the U.S. and in Canada.
Jeanne was fulfilled by being a wife, mother and homemaker. She had numerous relatives and friends with whom she faithfully kept in contact. She will be greatly missed.
She leaves behind two sons, Conrad Larry and his wife, Lorraine, of Auburn, and Richard of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; grandchildren, John and his wife, Shawna Vaillancourt, David and his wife, Christina Vaillancourt, and Amy Landry and her fiancé Derek Dube, all of Auburn, Penny and her husband, Patrick Main, of Brunswick, Ohio, and Jason and his wife, Melissa Vaillancourt, of Beaverton, Ore.; great-grandchildren, Brady Landry, Colin Dube, Molly Main, Michael Main and Sophia Diane Vaillancourt.
Jeanne was predeceased by her husband, Conrad, on Feb. 6, 1998; her daughter-in-law, Diane, on Aug. 2, 2006; her parents; and 13 brothers and sisters.
Jeanne’s family would like to express a special thanks to the staff at Bolster Heights Residential Care Facility for their wonderful care during her six-year stay.
