LEWISTON – A Mass of Christian burial honoring the life of Normand R. Morency was held Friday at Holy Cross Church with the Revs. Daniel Greenleaf and Albert Roux concelebrating. Before Mass, a prayer service was held at Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home with guitarist Marc Morin singing “He Will Carry You” and ending with “Here Oh Lord.”

During Mass, Norm’s granddaughters Michelle Fortier and Michelle Lieske read Old and New Testament readings, and grandson, Chris Rioux read the intercessions. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by grandsons, Daniel and Justin Fortier, as well as Jeffrey Rioux. Words of remembrance were by both granddaughter Michelle Fortier and daughter, Suzanne Rioux.

Mass concluded with final words by the Rev. Roux of the Marian Movement, who spoke on Norm and Terry’s dedication to the church. After committal prayers by the Revs. Greenleaf and Roux, a special song was played before the U.S. Air Force Honor Detail played Taps and presented our country’s flag to Norm’s wife, Therese, in recognition of her husband’s service to his country during the Korean Conflict.

Pallbearers were Daniel and Justin Fortier, Jeff and Chris Rioux, Mike Morency and Ron Nadeau. All were then invited to a reception of fellowship at Marco’s Restaurant in Lewiston.
