Brady Halacy, a second-grader at Rumford Elementary School, rubs a chocolate cream pie in the face of literacy coach, Eileen Pew. Seventeen pupils had a chance to rub pies in the faces of 16 staff members and one Rumford police officer as part of a book reading challenge issued by the school. Youngsters read almost 2,400 books between Feb. 4 and 28.
