LEWISTON – A melting pan left in an oven was blamed for the evacuation of an apartment building Monday, a fire official said.
An apartment on the second floor at 75 Birch St. filled with smoke when a tenant forgot about a pan that melted, fire Capt. Tim Myers said. Firefighters opened windows and cleared out the smoke, letting tenants back in their apartments in less than a half-hour, Myers said.
There was no damage to the building, he said.
