MILTON TOWNSHIP – Jo-Anne H. Powell, 73, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 3.

She resided on Buck Road in Milton Township.

Born in Rumford on Feb. 24, 1935, she was a daughter of Paul and Tessie (Arsenault) Blaisdell. She attended Stephens High School in Rumford.

She devoted her life to sharing the love of Christ with others, especially with children.

She was a much loved Sunday school teacher for more than 30 years.

She was known for her kindness, generosity and her willingness to help others.

Jo-Anne will be missed by everyone whose life she touched.

She was married in Rumford on March 29, 1952, to George Albion Powell.

She is survived by her husband, George Albion Powell of Milton Township. Other surviving family members are her mother, Tessie Blaisdell of West Paris; a son, David Powell and his wife, Carolyn, of Milton Township; a daughter, Gail Simmons of Biddeford; and a former daughter-in-law, Tracey White of Rumford. She had three brothers, Glen Blaisdell and Dick Blaisdell of Florida and Tim Blaisdell of Massachusetts; and a brother-in-law, Ernest McMillan of Massachusetts. She had nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a sister, Patricia McMillan; and a granddaughter, AmyJo Powell.
