LEWISTON – HealthSteps, a health education and prevention program for adults that focuses on the whole person, offers a wide range of classes with the core membership fee as well as a variety of specialty classes, including:

Ashtanga Yoga, Primary Standing Series: The beginner class is an athletic vinyasa format (meaning poses and breath energetically flow together into the next sequence of movements). With consistent practice, each student will gain body strength, increased flexibility and peace and clarity of mind.

Wear loose, not baggy, clothing or a leotard. Avoid eating one to two hours before class and bring a yoga mat and water bottle. Wednesdays, 5 to 6 p.m., April 9 to May 14; cost, $40; Lepage Conference Center, 99 Campus Ave.,

Intermediate Bellydancing: Dress comfortable in workout clothing or a long flowing skirt and comfortable top. Stockings or bare feet are preferred. Mondays, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., April 7, 14, 21 and 28; instructor, Lisa Cummings; cost, $45; Lepage Conference Center, 99 Campus Ave.

Racquetball: Specific time slots are available for registration Monday through Friday on the hour for an hour, from 6 a.m. until noon. Call 777-8898 for more information.

Hoops: The class is ideal for those interested in health, fitness and fun. Use a weighted hula hoop as a training aid to tone all those trouble spots. Tuesdays, 5:30 to 6:15 p.m.; Session 3, March 4, 11, 18 and 25; Session 4, April 1, 8, 15 and 22; cost, $55, including hoop; $35 for those who already own a weighted hoop; Lepage Conference Center, 99 Campus Ave.

Zumba: It is a blend of Latin and international dance themes that combines high energy and motivating music with easy-to-follow dance steps and body sculpting movements. Tuesdays, 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.; Session 3, March 4, 11, 18 and 25; Session 4, April 1, 8, 15 and 22; cost, $48; Lepage Conference Center, 99 Campus Ave.

Exercise for People with Arthritis: The class helps individuals improve range of motion, flexibility, muscle strength, posture, balance and coordination. Tuesdays, Thursdays, 9:30 to 10:15 a.m.; Session 3, March 11 to April 10; Session 4, April 15 to May 15; instructor, Johanne Healey; cost, $22, free with HealthSteps core membership; Bank of America Room, Women’s Pavilion.

Senior Fitness: The one-hour class provides participants with a safe and effective workout that includes a warm-up, cardiovascular component, resistance training to build strength, balance and flexibility exercises.

Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, 9:15 to 10:15 or 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.; Session 3, March 10 to April 11; Session 4, April 14 to May 16; instructor, Johanne Healey; cost, $30; Nutrition Center of Maine (formerly the Wallace Building).
