FARMINGTON – Avis G. Norton, 77, of Farmington, died Tuesday, March 4, at her home on the Whittier Road.
She was born in Mount Vernon, the daughter of Rueben J. and Alice M. (Gordon) Webber on May 15, 1930. She attended the Mount Vernon school system and married Philip Norton on Sept. 27, 1947.
She enjoyed going to baked bean suppers, embroidering, local country music performances and once traveled as far as Nashville to see the Grand Ole’ Opry.
She is survived by four daughters, Cheryl Norton of East Dixfield, Joyce Heroux of Rhode Island, Wendy Marquis and her husband, Dennis, of Oquossoc and Tricia Norton and her companion, Duane Greenleaf, of East Dixfield; a son, Larry Norton and his companion, Nancy, of Andover; eight grandchildren, Michelle, Jennifer, Toby, Todd, Tiffany, Landsey, Morgan and Haley; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Amy Maxim of Chesterville and Lois Harris of Florida; three brothers, Lloyd Webber and his wife, Connie, of Manchester, Merle Webber and his wife, Marie, of Nobleboro and Gordon Webber and his wife, Nancy, of Vienna; a sister-in-law, Marion Webber; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Philip, in 1996; a granddaughter, Elisha Tyler; a sister, Dorothea Currier; and a brother, Kenneth Webber.
