NEW VINEYARD – The town meeting dinner will be a fundraiser to benefit Rick Moody and his family, organizer Sandy Bestwick said.

The meal will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Smith Hall. People are welcome to attend even if they don’t attend the town meeting, she said. The town meeting will break from noon to 1 p.m., Town Clerk Arlene Davis said.

Moody, 21, has been hospitalized at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and has battled sickness for about a year, she said. The cause of the sickness is unknown, she added. Moody is the son of Teresa and Richard Moody of New Vineyard. They have been grateful to the community for other events held to help them, she said.

The menu includes baked beans, hot dogs, casseroles, salads, rolls, and pies. The cost is $5, or $3 for children under 12, and $15 for a family.
