FAYETTE – Richard C. Churchill, 64, a resident of Fayette, died very suddenly Tuesday, March 4, at his home after a brief illness.

He was born on Aug. 28, 1943, in Livermore Falls, the son of Charles W. and Edith (Crocker) Churchill. He was a graduate of Livermore Falls High School, Class of 1961.

He furthered his education at the U of M, Orono, and at U of M, Augusta, where he received two associate degrees and earned his bachelor’s degree in science at the University of Maine, Farmington.

He worked at International Paper Co. in Jay as a pulp mill digester operator until 1987, when he began his career as a science teacher for SAD 36. He returned to International Paper Co. and SAD 36, and Fayette schools, after retirement working as a computer consultant.

He enjoyed his early morning swims, working on HO model trains, mastered the computer and also at one time had his airplane pilot’s license.

He is survived by his companion of 35 years, Ann Piroso, of Fayette; a sister, Patty Curtis and her partner, David Leon Lowell, of Gray; a niece, Deborah Hart of Fresno, Calif.; a nephew, Dana Curtis of Bedford, N.H.; and an aunt, Alta Morton of Farmington.

He was predeceased by his parents; and a sister, Elaine Rose Churchill.
