AUBURN – Claude Leo Roy, 64, of 55 Collinsbrook Road, Brunswick, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 3, at the Hospice House, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Lake Magantic, Canada on Aug. 7, 1943, to Leon and Juliette Roy. His family moved to the Mexico-Rumford area when he was seven and he was raised and educated there. He graduated from Mexico High School in 1961, and soon after he married Maggie, his high school sweetheart.

They moved to the Brunswick area in 1964, when he was a meat-cutter and received a job transfer to the First National grocery store in Bath. Over the years, he worked at several jobs in the Brunswick area including delivering mail and working many construction jobs.

In addition to being a master meat-cutter, he was a licensed master electrician and he worked for many local companies. His last employment was BIW, where he began as an electrician, but later took a job as a pipe-fitter due to lay-offs. He was a hard worker who brought both skill and professionalism to whatever job he undertook.

The pride and joy of his life was his family. He enjoyed spending time with his children and beloved grandchildren and he was happiest when he was surrounded by his loved ones. He was an avid sports fan and he enthusiastically cheered for the Montreal Canadiens and the New England Patriots. He regularly attended Portland Pirates games with his son and they enjoyed watching sports together on television, as well. He loved his family immensely and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by Maggie, his loving wife of 46 years; his three children, Greg Roy and Kristine, of Bath, Gary Roy of Brunswick and Linda Lacasse and her husband, Roger, of Lisbon Falls; his beloved grandchildren, Brian Black and Ashley of Brunswick, Kevin Roy and Christopher Roy, both attending school in Rhode Island, Benjamin Black and Amanda of Lisbon Falls, Brandon Black of Lisbon Falls and Kirstie Roy of Phippsburg; he was from a large family and is survived by several brothers and sisters, Rene Roy and wife, Beatrice, Dennis and wife, Kathy, Germaine and husband, Al Fortier, Paulette Roy and Paul Roy, all of Florida, Susan White of Bath and Roger and wife, Doreen Roy, of Rumford; and a sister-in-law, Susan Desrosiers of Rumford.

He was predeceased by parents, Leon and Juliette Roy of Florida; and a brother, Raymond Roy of Rumford.
