LEWISTON – Dorothy L. Griffin, 90, formerly of 156 Main St., Auburn, died Tuesday March 4, at Montello Manor after a long illness.
She was born in Tiverton, R.I., on Aug. 7, 1917, the daughter of Wilson and Elsie (Hart) Lewis. She attended Rhode Island schools and was a graduate of Newport High School in Newport, R.I.
She married Edward L. Griffin on Oct. 8, 1938, and they moved to Maine in 1951. He died on Nov. 18, 1960.
Dot was a homemaker taking care of her family, but also worked as a waitress for the former Sim’s Restaurant, the Village Inn and for Raymond’s Lunch in Auburn.
She is survived by her son, Larry and his wife, Sheila, of Auburn; her two daughters, Sally Roberts and her husband, Bill, of Turner and Debra Roy and her husband, Michael, of Lewiston; her grandchildren, Tom and Mike Griffin, Chad Roberts, Shelly Stevens and Shana Cloutier; her great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Melissa, Tyler, Garrett, Colby, Paige and Brent; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her six sisters; and three brothers.
The family would like to thank Doreen Bickford from the Androscoggin Home Hospice for the wonderful care and companionship she provided for Dorothy.
