BRUNSWICK – Hank Kent passed away on March 4, surrounded by family and friends, after a courageous battle with leukemia.

He was born in Hawthorne, Calif., on Oct. 8, 1958, and attended St. Pancras School in Glendale, N.Y.

He served in the U.S. Navy for 14 years. He went to basic training in San Diego, Calif. He was stationed in California, New York, Louisiana, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

He was proud to have served his country.

Upon completion of his naval service, he chose a career in social work. He found a new passion in life by helping others.

He worked with children in Dubuque, Iowa, with the homeless at the Tedford Shelter in Brunswick and Place of Hope in Greenville, S.C., a drop-in center for the homeless.

His love for Maine called him to return with his family to Lisbon Falls in 2006, where he provided guidance and support for those at Tri-Country Mental Health Services in Lewiston. He received his master’s degree in psychology in 2005.

In his spare time, he enjoyed his cats, photography, fishing, music and his beloved N.Y. Mets.

He loved nothing more than a Sunday game of cribbage with his family and good friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Sandra; his stepson, B. Brandon of New York City, N.Y.; father, Clifford of Whitestone, N.Y.; sisters, Edith of Stark, Fla., Susan of Maspeth, N.Y., and Marie of Long Island, N.Y.; and numerous nieces and a nephew.
