RUMFORD – Janet Paine, 81, a resident of the Victorian Villa, Canton, died in the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 4, at Rumford Community Hospital after a long illness.

She was born Feb. 20, 1927, in Dixfield, the daughter of George and Betsy (McIntyre) Paine. She was educated in Dixfield schools and lead a very quiet, reserved life in Dixfield, until she moved to the Villa.

She enjoyed knitting, tending her flowers and devoting her care and attention to her favorite kitty, Charo.

She is survived by two brothers, Richard “Dick” Paine and Larry Paine, both of Dixfield; one nephew; two nieces; and several cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents; and a brother, Bartlett.
