HARRISON – State police are still awaiting the results of an autopsy on the body of 4-month-old Zachary Henderson, who was found dead in his home here this week, Maj. Dale Lancaster said Friday night.

The investigation is continuing, and until more facts are known about what happened to the infant, no information about the cause of his death will be released, he added.

Police say the baby’s mother, 43-year-old Pamela Henderson, apparently fell asleep in a bath tub with her baby Wednesday night.

She and the infant were alone in her second-floor apartment at 12 Mill St. at the time, state police Lt. Brian McDonough said.

Cumberland County sheriff’s deputies were called to the home about 6 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a dead child and hysterical mother.

Police said the distraught mother attempted suicide. She was taken to Bridgton Hospital.

A nursing supervisor said Friday night that there was no patient by that name there.

Maine law classifies the death of any child under 3 years as suspicious and requires state police to investigate.
