LEWISTON – Astonishingly close competition has forced the Lewiston Recreation Department to employ a pair of tie-breakers when seeding teams for the upcoming co-ed volleyball ‘A’ division playoffs.
Because of a tie between Peru +2 and Bio Processing for overall season record and identical 6-6 records against each other during the season (the first standings tiebreaker), the verdict was settled by total points scored during the head-to-head competitions. Peru +2 outscored Bio Processing in their dozen games by a total of 20 points, and thus took the top seed and regular-season championship.
Bio Processing forced the tie for first with a 2-1 (19-25, 26-24, 25-21) win over Gridiron in its season finale. Peru +2 dropped a marathon 2-1 decision (27-25, 19-25, 30-28) to LAVA.
Standings:
Peru +2 31-17
Bio Processing 31-17
LAVA 27-21
Allagash 25-23
Gridiron 6-42
