RANDOLPH, Mass. (AP) – A Stoughton man who stopped on an interstate highway to check on a disabled vehicle was killed when his own pickup truck struck him.
State police say 53-year-old Stephen Cullen stopped on Route 93 North in Randolph at about 12:30 on Saturday morning to check on an SUV pulled over in the breakdown lane.
Police say Cullen got out of his truck and was walking behind it when it rolled backward and struck him despite the fact a passenger was inside trying to stop it.
Cullen suffered serious injuries and was taken to a Quincy hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Two lanes of highway were shut down for about 1-1/2 hours during the investigation.
