AUBURN – A Memorial Mass honoring the life of John E. Connolly Jr. was held Saturday morning at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Barbara Barth presiding.

Following Mass, a funeral procession formed to travel to Gracelawn Memorial Park where committal prayers were recited. Words of remembrance were shared by John’s step daughter, Chantal Leavitt.

Following prayers and a special song, the U.S. Marine Corps Honor Detail played Taps and presented our country’s flag to John’s wife, Carlene, in recognition of her husband’s service in the Marine Corps during the Cuban Missle Crisis.

Bagpipe player, George Pulkinen, concluded services with “Amazing Grace.”

All were then invited to a reception of fellowship at Fishbones Restaurant in Lewiston.
