LEWISTON – Two teens escaped with minor injuries Sunday after the 1999 Chrysler convertible they were traveling in rolled over after hitting a snowbank on the Maine Turnpike near the Sabattus exit.
Cpl. Jerome Carr of the Maine State Police said that the accident occurred about 3:40 p.m. The vehicle driven by Austin Gregory, 17, of Corinth, was traveling south on Interstate 95 when it pulled into the left-hand passing lane, lost control, hit a snowbank and guardrail and then flipped over. Carr said it is believed that a gust of wind might have caused Gregory to overreact and lose control.
Gregory was uninjured in the accident, but his two passengers – Veronica Foster, 17, and Andrew Millett, 18, no addresses listed – both suffered minor injuries. Carr said that speed was considered a factor, but that no charges are pending.
