NORWAY – The Children’s Department at Norway Memorial Library will offer a program in the “Board Games and Beyond!” series from 12:45 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, for children in grades one to six. It is an early release day for students in SAD 17.
African games will be the focus of the program, because the library is collecting children’s books in March to start a library at Mabule Primary School in Mabule, Botswana, Africa, in partnership with the African Library Project.
Children will play African board games, such as mancala and senet (one of the oldest games in the world), as well as American games, like Stratego and Twister. They will also make drawings and write letters to send to students at Mabule Primary School. Parents are welcome.
Space is limited, so parents must preregister by calling the Norway Library Children’s Department at 743-5308. The library is at 258 Main St. For more information on the African Library Project, go to www.oxfordhillsreads.blogspot.com or www.africanlibraryproject.org.
