Lewiston – Marian Carney, 88, of 540 College St., passed away on Saturday, March 8, at Montello Manor.

She was born in Sheridan, April 2, 1919, the daughter of Wiliam and Katherine Chaloux Carney. She was educated in Sheridan schools and, prior to her retirement, was employed as a waitress at the Mayflower Restaurant in Biddeford and the Main Castle in Saco.

She enjoyed playing cards and beano every week, bowling, and visits from her family and friends while she lived in Biddeford.

She is survived by 11 nieces and nephews: Richard Carney, Louise Roy and husband, Norm; Donald Carney and wife, Bonnie; Dennis Carney and wife, Colleen; Catherine Lajoie and husband, Nel; Linda Dennis and husband, Bob; Marion Soucy and husband, Omer; Jeanne Nadeau; Bernadette Pelletier; Leo Carney, Jr., and wife, Diane; and John Carney; as well as many cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents; three brothers, Wilfred, Victor and Leo Carney; and a nephew, Emile Carney.

Her family wishes to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at Montello Manor for their excellent care of her while she resided there. Also to Cecile Mathieu for her special care and concern for her while a resident at Maison Marcotte.
