JAY – School Committee members voted unanimously to postpone adopting a proposed testing and assessment policy after teachers voiced concerns over it and requested input before it is adopted.

The board also accepted four policies Thursday for first readings and asked Superintendent Robert Wall to add some language to allow parent discretion in a relations-with-military-recruiters policy and to combine three policies addressing student attendance, absences, tardiness at school before a second reading. It takes three readings of a proposed policy to become a policy, if committee members approve it.

Board Chairman Mary Redmond-Luce suggested that a policy committee be formed again, consisting of administrators, staff and School Committee members to review potential policies.

Administrators will work with staff on the policy review.
