INDUSTRY – All 43 town meeting warrant items were passed in just over an hour by voters here on Saturday, said Town Clerk Angel Davis.
With rain Saturday afternoon, a smaller than usual group attended the 2 p.m. meeting. They approved items with little discussion, she said.
Voters chose to let Lee Ireland retain his selectman position during voting Saturday morning with 38 votes cast that included one write-in vote for another person, she added.
Salaries for the treasurer and town clerk were raised to $5,000 a year by voters. Selectmen also received a raise. The first selectman will now receive $4,000 and the second and third selectmen, $3,500 each.
The recycling attendant’s salary was also raised by $500 to $2,150.
The town’s roads created a small discussion, she added. Voters approved $60,000 for the care and maintenance of winter roads. That reflects a $20,000 increase over last year.
The town also received the resignation of road commissioner Timothy Thayer, she said.
Thayer resigned stating that he didn’t have the time to do the work with his full-time work, she said.
Selectmen will address the issue at their meeting on March 18 and direct road work and employees until the issue is resolved, she said.
