LEWISTON – Gerard A.R. Doyon, 53, of Auburn passed away Sunday, March 9, at Central Maine Medical Center.

Gerry was born in Lewiston, April 22, 1954, the son of Roland and Emelienne Roy Doyon. He was married Aug. 1, 1981, to Cecile Gelinas. He was educated in Lewiston schools and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1972. He attended Mr. Richards’ Hair styling school and was employed at Hairlooks Int’l for the past 27 years. He loved his work and many of his customers became close friends.

He was truly a “people person” and maintained lifelong relationships with his friends. A benefit held last Saturday, March 8, for him showed the care and love that his family and friends had for him. He was loved by everyone.

He was a wonderful husband and supportive dad. He always made sure to be there for any event where his children were performing. There were countless hockey games and events where his son, Brian, would sing. He was so supportive of Michelle’s cheering events that he wore pink proudly and sometimes ended up with glitter on his face.

He was always there and was very proud of both children. His love for his wife was unsurpassed, as he loved her with all his heart. His family was his entire world. Sharing many different pastimes with various friends was very near and dear to him to the very end. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Gardening was truly a hobby that he loved. It enabled him to show his creativity. He could name all of the plants and flowers in his garden and was the first to help if you were planning to start one yourself.

To say that he was a Maineiacs’ fan would be an understatement. He was a Maineiacs’ season ticket holder since the teams’ inception and attended all home games until his recent illness. He also loved to travel to Canada for some of the away games. He would attend morning practices, where he could follow the progress of the teams’ players and socialize with the staff and his friends.

He is survived by his wife, Cecile; daughter, Michelle E. Doyon; a son, Brian P. Doyon, all of Auburn; a brother, Jean Paul “J.P.” Doyon and wife, Helene, of Lewiston; two sisters, Jackie Michaud and husband, Jim, of Southwest Harbor and Linda Spugnardi and husband, Robert, of Lewiston; Cecile’s mom, Lorraine Gelinas of Lewiston; sisters-in-law, Claire Strout and husband, Reggie and Sue Bulger and husband, Bob; and 13 nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mom and dad; and Cecile’s dad, Frank Gelinas.
