AUBURN – Boston comedian Johnny Pizzi, a regular in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, will headline Comedy Night Saturday, March 15, at the The Fireside Inn & Suites. Also performing will be Carolyn Plummer and Tammy Pooler.

Presented by Laughing Matters Comedy, the shows are part of a winter comedy series featuring some of New England’s premier comedians.

Pizzi, a 20-year veteran of the New England comedy scene, is the regular host at the famous Giggles Comedy Club on Route 1 in Saugus. He also works at clubs around New England and on cruise ships. Among his television credits is an appearance on “The John Laroquette Show.” He is also a magician, doing close-up and stage magic at corporate and club shows.

A native of the Laconia, N.H. region, Plummer’s start as a comedian began when she won the Lakes Region Laugh Off competition eight years ago. She has gone on to make a name for herself on the New England Comedy scene, working at clubs like the Comedy Connection in Boston and in Portland, as well as at larger venues such as the Capital Center for the Arts in Concord, N.H., and the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor. Her deadpan, low-key absurdist take on life is a big hit with audiences.

Pooler has been identified by the Portland Phoenix as “Portland’s Best Emerging Comedic Artist” and has worked in all types of venues, from the Maine Mall in South Portland to clubs, colleges, theaters and country clubs all over New England. Her innocent appearance is belied by an edgy sense of humor.

The laughs will begin at 8 p.m. at the former Auburn Inn at 1777 Washington St. Tickets are $12 with a reservation, $14 without. For tickets, call 777-1777, or check www.laughingmatterscomedy.com.
