WILTON – A Wilton man was arrested Sunday after police found cocaine during a search of his home on Friday, said police Chief Dennis Brown.

Joseph F. Daoust, 21, was arrested Sunday on a felony charge of trafficking schedule W drugs and a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was arrested in East Dixfield after police kept surveillance on a home where they suspected he was, Brown said. Once he left the house, Lt. Richard Caton IV and Officer Rick Billian assisted by Dixfield police stopped his vehicle. During a search of the car, additional drug paraphernalia was found, Brown said.

A search warrant led police to Daoust’s Depot Street home at 4 p.m. Friday where Wilton police seized 3.5 grams of cocaine, drug paraphernalia consistent with trafficking in cocaine and equipment and materials used to manufacture and distribute crack/cocaine, Brown said. An undisclosed amount of heroin was also found within the residence, but not Daoust, he added.
