BRUNSWICK (AP) – The Brunswick Naval Air Station is planning a memorial service Friday for a sailor killed this week on Interstate 295 in Bowdoinham.
Thirty-year-old Christopher Strom, an aviation mechanic, was run over by a delivery truck after he parked his car in the breakdown lane on Monday. Troopers say witnesses told them Strom was holding his hands above his head when the truck struck him.
State police said Strom had called his girlfriend about 15 minutes before the crash to say he was on his way home.
Chief Petty Officer Luis Luque says Strom was assigned to Brunswick in July 2006. He was scheduled to be reassigned to Bahrain, a Persian Gulf nation that borders Saudi Arabia, in July.
